The hotel medium renaixença is located in the building known as Can Robert (also known as Casa Antoni Robert i Camps), which was built between 1894 and 1899 by the architect Salvador Vinyals i Sabaté. It is considered an example of Eclecticism, as different styles and trends converge in its architecture and decoration.
One of the oldest hotels in Sitges
Unlike what happened with its “siblings” hotels, medium romàntic and medium sitges park, Can Robert was a private home for only a short period of time, as it was converted into the Hotel Renaixença at the beginning of the 20th century. The hotel’s name refers to a cultural period (La Renaixença, which advocated for the recovery of the Catalan language and culture) that was considered to have been surpassed by the Modernism of the time. The building’s façade is the Renaissance element of the complex. The decoration, on the other hand, is Modernist.
Passion for Art
The history of Hotel Renaixença is intertwined with that of Hotel Romàntic when the owner of the latter, the charismatic artist Gonçal Sobrer, acquired it in the 60s of the last century. From then on, a joint journey for both hotels began that lasts to this day. Both hotels share the same management, often the same clients, and the same philosophy: they are filled with works of art that grant them a unique personality in all of Sitges.
When, in 2016, medium hoteles began its management, both hotels underwent renovation work that respected the original decoration and did not affect the architectural level. To the great satisfaction of the most loyal customers, the same atmosphere of a century of life continues to be felt at the hotel medium renaixença, though with more amenities.
