The Tomatina is one of the most famous popular Spanish festivals. Each year 40,000 people, especially English speakers, go to the tomato battle. The few hotels in the small village of Bunyol are soon booked out and the large majority of participants have to seek lodging outside the town. There is a special train service between the RENFE station in Valencia and Bunyol throughout the day and until late at night. The festival is less than half an hour from the city centre. Since last year, participation in the festival costs 10 Euros per person. Tickets can be purchased on the web site which also explains the rules to be followed and provides useful recommendations to enjoy the Tomatina in safety.
